Sculptor in the Garden - Contemporary Sculpture in Stone
About Us
Born in New York City, Carl Grieco apprenticed as a mason and had the benefit of training in Ornate Moldwork and Ornamental Plastering.  After his move to up-state New York, he was active in restoration work.  His extensive knowledge of stone, plaster and related materials fueled his creativity and he has been sculpting for over 20 years.  He has been most influenced by the work of Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Alexander Archipenko and Edouard Lanteri (a contemporary of Rodin).
The artist is primarily self-taught, but he did study sculpture and anatomy with Joseph Emilio Finelli (Member of the Salmagundi Club), and took an internship at the Carving Studio of Proctor VT, founded by Berndadette D'Amore, professor at the Boston Museum School of Art.
Carl has exhibited widely in the Northeast, has has pieces in permanent collections in Chestnut Hill MA, Margaretville NY, Los Angeles CA, LaGrangeville NY, Hyde Park NY and Tel Aviv, Israel
